The Queens Head is widely regarded throughout East Sussex as a pub that knows about beer and in particular, traditional cask conditioned ales.

30yr AwardThe Queens’ has been an annual feature in the CAMRA Good Beer guide for 30 consecutive years and is rightly proud of its association with the organisation. In return CAMRA acknowledged its excellence and awarded the title of East Sussex CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2005 and again in 2009.

In addition to some permanent cellar residents, Harveys and Greene King, the pub prides itself on a range of ales from breweries the length and breadth of the country. Attention though is given to sourcing locally brewed ales and beers from East and West Sussex, Kent and Surrey. Many fine breweries are to be found in these counties and there will be more than one example of their products on tap on any given day.

It’s no mean boast that the pub has 10 hand pumps and at peak times you can expect to find at least 8 of them in use. Cellar hosts Simon and Jonathan are proud to be able to offer a mix of breweries and beers old and new together with a balance of tradition and innovation, in short something for every taste.

Our staff will be on hand to offer their expertise and experience in guiding you through the ingredients, characters and complexities of the real ales. They’ll also be happy to offer you a taster of whatever has caught your eye in the hope that it will also catch your palate.

We truly are the free-est of free houses, you won’t find any guests in our cellar only friends, some old and many new.
